It can be a challenge to manage your blood sugar level as recommended by your doctor. There are many factors that affect the level of blood sugar.
Food is one of the important factors that helps maintain healthy living.  And if you have diabetes you have to keep a keen watch on your on the food that affects blood sugar level. The type of food you eat , the amount of food you eat, and even the combination of food you eat , everything matters. You can take few steps in order to maintain a proper food intake;
Ø  Have a balanced meal that combines a good mix of fruits, vegetables and starches  and vegetables , fats and proteins in every meal’
Ø  Manage the intake of carbohydrates portion sizes. You should learn to count the carbohydrates that has the biggest impact on the blood sugar levels. A measuring cup can be used for a perfect carbohydrate count.
Ø  Avoid sugar sweetened beverages that have no nutrition but can increase the blood sugar level instantly.
Exercise is important in the planning of managing your diabetes. Regular exercise helps use more sugar i.e. glucose for energy. You can plan your exercise by doing the following:
Ø  Talk to your doctor and plan your exercise for at least 30 minutes a day
Ø  Keep an exercise schedule to coordinate your workout routine
Ø  Check your blood sugar level before, during and after exercise and be aware of  warning signs of low blood sugar level like getting tired, feeling shaky , weak, hungry, lightheaded, irritable or confused.
Ø  Drink plenty of fluid and water during exercise
Ø  Always have small snack or glucose tablet during exercise in case of your blood sugar
Alcohol can also lower the blood sugar level shortly after your drink. Alcohol can result in low blood sugar shortly after you drink it and for as many as 24 hours more. Do not have alcohol in empty stomach.
Stress can increase the blood sugar level, So learn relaxation techniques to control the sugar level.
